How to appear in Google AI Overviews and AI Mode
To appear in AI Overviews and AI Mode a page must be indexed and eligible for Google's results, and answer the question, or one of the sub-questions Google explores, clearly. How does Google choose sources for AI answers?
Google states that its AI features rely on Search's ranking systems. Cited pages tend to be indexed, helpful, clear and written with expertise.
AI Mode uses a technique Google calls “query fan-out”: it breaks the question into several related searches. A page can therefore be chosen because it answers part of the question well: covering a topic thoroughly, with linked pages, helps.
